How was it done?

This site has been developed using Miscrosoft® Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition - free wysiwyg web development environment.

All XHTML markup is written to be DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict complient and all cascading style sheets validate against Cascading Style Sheets Level 2 Revision 1 (CSS 2.1) Specification.

All my great grand father's information has been entered in to Family Historian, which enabled production of the family tree diagrams. Family Historian's web site generator tool was used to form the basis for the ancestors' index althougthe the Family Historian generated files have been heavily modified.

html files generated by Family Historian were post processed with software written in C++ to given the Family Historian generated files the same look and feel as the rest of the site. Post processing also modified the Family Historian genetrated files to make them DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict complient. If you are a Family Historian user and would like advice on integrating Family Historian generated files in to your web site then please contact the author: WebMaster@Newnham.info.

Books

The following books were found to be most useful and are highly recommended.  These have far more depth than the multitude of light-weight 'Even a dim-wit can build a website' style books.
